CBD Oil for Anxiety blog and article

Let's Start Using CBD Oil for Anxiety

Why The Old Ways Are Not Safe

Let's face it. Anti-anxiety medications work, or millions of long-term users would not be taking them on a regular basis. And millions of others would not use them to get through short term acute crisis situations. But millions do take them, and they DO work. So, the question begs an answer. Why question their use then? The simple answer to that is:

They are addictive.

And they are dangerous.

And coming off them can KILL you!

Benzo's as they are commonly known by, were the wonder drugs of the 1960's. They were prescribed not just for anxiety but for alcohol abuse and drug withdrawal, depression, dementia, calming psychosis, and helping with sleep disorders. Valium and Librium were the first to be developed. These drugs were so liberally prescribed that Valium even had the incredible nickname. " Mother's Little helper", if you could believe that! But believe that you must. Doctors thought they were doing their patients good by prescribing these drugs to them. It took 10 years before the warning signs started to show.  Benzos were reputed to be safe, and initially they were oblivious to the risk of addiction. Before long, benzos became among the most frequently prescribed medications in America.

A second benzo craze began in the1980s when Xanax became the new wonder drug.  Xanax quickly became, and remains, a best seller. Xanax is the most dangerous of all benzodiazepines because it has a short half-life. This refers to the amount of time it takes for the concentration of the drug in the blood to peak after one dose. When a drug has a shorter half-life, it tends to take effect MUCH more quickly, and the person can feel it MUCH more rapidly, and this indicates a VERY high potential for abuse of the drug.

So How do they work? The human brain contains many different neurotransmitters. These neurotransmitters are for communicating messages between brain cells that can have either tranquilizing or excitatory effects.

When someone feels overly anxious, the brain becomes over excited and are over-active. Tranquilizing transmitters quickly send messages to brain cells that slow down activity in the brain and reduce the symptoms of anxiety. GABA is a tranquilizing neurotransmitter, and billions of brain cells respond to its signals. Benzodiazepines work by enhancing the effect of the neurotransmitter GABA. The drugs contain chemicals that add greatly to the calming effect that is already produced by the human body and will keep the brain in a much more tranquilized state. A person is addicted when the body cannot keep a person calm on its own and the body does not produce enough of its own GABA to calm the body. That is when withdrawal symptoms start.

Between 1996 and 2013, the percentage of people in the U.S. using benzos jumped more than one-third from an already remarkable 4.1 to 5.6 percent. Something that is especially troubling is that benzo use is so high (nearly one out of ten) in the elderly, the group that is the most likely to be harmed by them. And women are twice as likely as men to be given a prescription

One thing that is amazing is that the psychiatric indications for benzos can be counted on the fingers of one hand.  All of the legitimate indications for benzos are extremely short term. However, in real life most people take these drugs for long term, most with doses high enough to be addicting, and for all the wrong reasons.

Benzo popularity derives from their ability to quickly relieve anxiety, reduce worry, help people relax, and to deal with social anxiety and social speaking fears. Doctors enjoy prescribing them as it gives patients what they want, and it gets them in and out of the office quickly with great ease

Benzo's harm in 3 ways. 1st is of course is deadly overdoses. They are responsible for over 30% of all overdose deaths. Many times, they are in combination with opioid and alcohol overdoses. 2nd is the deadly withdrawal process. Unlike opioid withdrawal, which is uncomfortable but won’t kill you, benzo withdrawal CAN kill especially by having seizures. It lasts much longer; it is much more painful, and it is much more miserable. And the 3rd is that it affects motor skills and cognitive skills, causes dementia like symptoms, causes falls, accidents, and causes these things especially in the elderly. Other side effects from benzodiazepines can manifest in drowsiness, confusion, dizziness, blurred vision, weakness, slurred speech, lack of coordination, difficulty breathing and even coma. Chronic abuse of these drugs leads to insomnia, anorexia, headaches, weakness and even anxiety, the very condition they are prescribed to treat.

Benzo's are prescribed to improve the quality of a person’s life and yet almost all of the time it does the complete opposite. With so many lives destroyed you would think the government would step in as it is doing with the opioid crisis. The benzodiazepine crisis is worse, yet we hear silence from our government.

So, what is CBD Oil?

CBD is one of the more than 100 chemical compounds found in the cannabis plant, which produces both marijuana and industrial hemp. CBD is very similar to THC which is what causes the "high" in marijuana. CBD does not make you "high" The CBD sold to consumers is a hemp-derived product, which legally cannot contain more than 0.3 percent THC. No matter how much you consume, you will not get high.

There is extremely well-documented evidence, from scientific studies and from the stories of people’s own personal experiences and from going back for at least 50+ years that cannabidiol (CBD) and also tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) may possibly have some positive effects for some conditions such as:

  • Mild      to moderate depression
  • OCD-Obsessive      Compulsive Disorder
  • Social      Anxiety Disorder
  • PTST-      Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • GAD-Generalized      Anxiety Disorder
  • Panic      disorder
  • Anxiety
  • Nightmares
  • Bipolar
  • Schizophrenia

That is not to say that CBD or THC can treat these disorders, but the research is very encouraging. And the testimonials are even more encouraging. Thousands and even hundreds of thousands of people are reporting HUGE benefits from taking CBD oil and THC. Now that CBD has been taken off the controlled substance list researchers are racing to test CBD in many clinical studies. The 2018 Farm Bill took CBD off the Schedule 1 Controlled Substance List. Already, a medication called Epidiolex has been approved by the FDA to treat certain hard to treat seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome or Dravet syndrome.

It’s also important to note that no toxic dose for CBD is known, and there is no record from any source of a death or serious injury from CBD as of the time of writing this article.

How Does CBD Work?

The endocannabinoid system is a complex network of cell receptors and neurotransmitters that are responsible for maintaining the intricate balance of homeostasis in our body. Cannabinoid receptors are spread throughout the entire body, with the largest concentrations in the central and peripheral nervous systems, and especially in the immune system. The ECS improves the communication between all those systems. It basically balances out the entire body.

The endocannabinoid system also controls a wide range of biological functions, including sleep, mood, temperature control, immune response, pain and pleasure perception, fertility, memory, and appetite.

Whenever something goes wrong with your health, the endocannabinoid system will then release its natural cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) to restore the balance in the body (Homeostasis)  CBD doesn’t interact directly with cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2),  it instead stimulates the endocannabinoid system to then produce its own cannabinoids. In addition, it slows their breakdown by inhibiting the FAAH enzyme, so the endocannabinoids will stay in your body for much longer working harder to maintain homeostasis.

Regardless of whether we believe it is safer or not, if you are considering using CBD for anxiety you should always talk to your healthcare professional. This article is not intended to treat or diagnose an illness or take the place of your doctor. It is meant to give you vital information so that you can make informed healthcare choices.

CBD oil can certainly have a positive effect in helping anxiety. With more and more research being carried out and more individual experiences being shared both online and, in the media, the future for CBD oil will certainly be out there for all to see. With the negative side effects being reported as almost nonexistent and the number of listed benefits growing with more research, we feel that it’s only a matter of time before CBD is accepted as a viable option within the medical community to help treat anxiety disorders. In the meantime, CBD is available online and there is a wealth of information available to everyone to do their own research themselves.

Children and CBD-Real Help For Little Ones

CBD and Anxiety: Why The Old ways are not best

CBD and Anxiety: Why The Old ways are not best

CBD for kids. Little girl standing in a field of flowers blog and article

There is a high stigma attached to anything related to cannabis and with all the legal restrictions that come along with it. Because of this, studies on the benefits of  CBD Oil for children are currently quite limited, but they are growing exponentially. There are many ethical and legal ramifications on medical research on children, and this is why there are few studies relating to CBD Oil and children.

A 2017 review published in The Journal of Pediatric Pharmacology and Therapeutics has reported on a number of clinical trials that showed CBD oil was safe for children who were diagnosed with medical conditions like ADHD, seizures, and children's anxiety.

Hemp is a variety of the Cannabis Sativa Plant, which was used for fiber, household items, and clothing. Hemp usually contains lower amounts of THC and much higher levels of CBD. CBD used to be a schedule 1 drug, which means that it has no accepted medical use right now and has a higher potential for abuse. The Farm bill in 2018 exempted and reclassified hemp and hemp-derived CBD as an agriculture commodity, and exempted it from the list of scheduled drugs.

Cannabis has many names. The most common one is marijuana, which everyone is familiar with, and it is well known. Cannabis is the Latin name used by botanists, drug companies, and within the medical field. The word refers to the leaves and female flowers of the cannabis plant. Medical cannabis uses the whole plant, and it is used for medicinal purposes.

Cannabinoids are compounds that act on cells in the body, which are called cannabinoid receptors to cause some effect. THC is the compound that causes users to feel "high" or "stoned." CBD, on the other hand, does not cause that feeling, but it does have specific positive effects on body systems.

The central hemp-derived CBD that has been rigorously studied and has been approved by the FDA is the new drug Epidolex for rare and hard to treat seizures. Epidiolex is a purified (> 98% oil-based) CBD extract from the cannabis plant. It is produced by Greenwich Biosciences (the U.S. based company of GW Pharmaceuticals) to give consistent amounts in each dose.

Researchers studied this medicine in clinical trials. They used a control group with some people taking the drug at different doses, and some people getting the placebo. This study is called the Blind Study, and it is the gold standard when it relates to clinical studies. Researchers did not know which person was getting which product with some getting the actual product, and some only getting a placebo.

Marijuana or cannabis, in general, has some side effects depending on how the cannabis gets used in the body. It is essential to know that even though it is a plant, it still gets broken down in the liver like many medicines. People think it is 100% safe, but some interactions may occur.

Tiredness, diarrhea and upset stomach may occur but usually goes away with regular use. It could be because the product contains oil, which can upset the stomach.

More and more products are coming out on the market at a rapid pace, but not all have the same quality, with some being fake, counterfeit, or harmful. Some products do not have the dose stated on the bottle, and it is either contains less CBD or more CBD than stated. Personal research is needed to find high-quality products that should have lab reports for each batch made. Lab reports should state how much CBD is in the product and how much impurities and other compounds that are also in it.

CBD For Seizures in Children

One of the studies examined nine children with epilepsy, and of the four patients who received CBD products every day, two were free of seizures, and one patient saw a partial improvement over three months. These results are quite promising, but they also accentuate the problem of the issue of limited resources and also limited test subjects in cannabis-based research.

CBD oil and cannabis products have been shown to help a considerable number of health conditions and diseases, and there are several that are of specific interest because they relate to children and treating them individually.

The most highly publicized cases of CBD oil use and one that points to CBD oil being safe for children is the case of Charlotte Figi.

By the time she was 2, Charlotte was diagnosed with Dravet syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy in which continuous and very difficult to treat seizures are the main symptom of the disease. When she was 5, Charlotte was severely disabled and having up to 300 grand mal seizures per day with an average of two seizures every hour — even going into status epilepticus, which means continuous unabating seizures.

When Charlotte didn't respond to traditional regular medications, her parents then decided to look into cannabis as a possible way to treat her epilepsy; Doing this brought them to the Stanley Brothers company. After they met with Charlotte's parents and heard her long story of constant seizures, in 2011, the Stanley Brothers developed the now-famous namesake cannabis strain "Charlotte's Web." This strain is high in CBD and very low in THC (trace amounts)and made from industrial hemp.

Miraculously, In the first week of using Charlotte's Web hemp oil to treat her severe epilepsy, Charlotte didn't have even a single seizure. She also did not have any adverse side effects. It would seem that CBD for seizures in children worked! This also proved that CBD oil is safe for children. Research is showing that THC and CBD really do heal the human body.

Charlotte's Web CBD oil is now often recommended for treating severe epileptic conditions like Dravet syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome in children.  CBD for seizures in children is a viable and real option.

Doctors, patients, and advocates are rapid to point out CBD oil isn't a miracle cure or the only answer. It doesn't wholly eradicate epilepsy, and it does not help everyone. But for many patients, it can help eliminate or at least reduce their symptoms, and by doing this, it may allow them to ease off of other drugs that have serious side effects. The side effects of these pharmaceutical drugs include anemia, low platelet levels, liver failure, pancreatitis, allergic reactions, addiction, tolerance, and suicidal tendencies.

CBD Oil for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)CBD Oil for Pain

Children suffering from chronic pain conditions, including those undergoing chemotherapy, CBD oil can be a huge, powerful tool for pain relief.  One of the many ways that CBD oil relieves pain is through interaction with the body's Endocannabinoid System.  CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system's endocannabinoid  receptor 2 (CB2)

CBD binds to CB2 receptors, which are located throughout the body in the central nervous system. These receptors regulate both pain and inflammation in the body.

CBD will enhance concentration and cognition in the brain, which will also reduce anxiety and will give a better and deeper restorative night's sleep. CBD oil may help control the symptoms of ADHD in children. The vast majority of treatments now for ADHD are stimulant medications that can make anxiety and sleep problems worse., CBD  may provide a much safer and more effective treatment for people with ADHD. Adults with ADHD can also be helped.

The evidence suggests CBD oil is a low-risk treatment option for adults and children alike, with the World Health Organization even stating:

"CBD does not produce the effects that typically are seen with cannabinoids such as THC. It also failed to produce significant effects in a human study of abuse potential. Across several controlled and open-label trials of the potential therapeutic effects of CBD, it is generally well-tolerated, with a good safety profile."

CBD For Autism Spectrum Disorder

Cannabis extracts are appearing to help children with autism. It seems to reduce aggressive and disruptive behavior, improve their social responses to people as a new Israeli clinical trial reports.

If kids are treated with whole-plant cannabis or pure CBD combination with THC, they will experience a vast and significant improvement in their behavior and their symptoms when compared to a group of children that received the placebo.

As with any medical treatment, particularly those involving children, you must talk to your child's pediatrician about giving your child CBD. CBD is safe for children, and this is a reality, but having the doctor aware that your child is taking it will assist them if they need to prescribe something else for your child. CBD may react to some medications, and it is essential to know which ones your child is taking.

If you have questions that your child's pediatrician can not answer and want a second opinion, you might want to consider setting up an appointment with a qualified cannabis doctor.

CBD and Anxiety: Why The Old ways are not best

Cbd for arthritis and INFLAMMATORY conditions

CBD for Arthritis Content Articles

There are in the United States. Approximately 54 million adults and 300,000 children that have been diagnosed with the painful condition, arthritis, or have gotten diagnosed with some other kind of painful inflammatory disease. These cause pain, stiffness and joint damage.

But if you then consider all of the many individuals who have arthritis but have not yet gotten diagnosed, the Arthritis Foundation suggests that the more true count is likely closer to 91.2 million in total. Something that makes matters even worse is that number is expected to grow by 49 percent by the year 2040. Those are scary numbers for painful and sometimes debilitating diseases.

The most common and debilitating symptoms that are suffered by patients with arthritis are joint pain, and muscle stiffness, and this causes decreased movement inside the joints. All of these symptoms can be severe, and in most cases, they worsen over time. Additionally, several other symptoms are just as troubling, things like anxiety and depression. Not only that, if you are trying to deal with other issues that tend to coexist with arthritis, it can feel overwhelming. Some of these that coexist with arthritis are heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.

Some medications and treatment plans can potentially help make these adverse effects more manageable, but many people are wanting and searching for a more natural pain relief option. This is where CBD comes into the picture.

How Does CBD Work?

The body's Endocannabinoid System, which is the system that produces homeostasis in the body (or the normal functioning in the body), has two cannabinoid receptors: CB1 and CB2.

Most of the CB1 receptors are located in the brain and central nervous system and are associated with brain actions related to the body's coordination, regulating mood, improving thinking, improving and maintaining memory, and a person's appetite. CB2 receptors can be found in the immune system. .This makes them responsible for a person's body to react to pain and inflammation.

CBD impacts the many CB2 receptors. It does not affect them directly, but by attaching to the CB2 receptor, This encourages the body to make more of its own cannabinoids. This reaction creates a healing effect on the body's pain and inflammation reaction.

One of the leading CBD benefits for people who suffer from arthritis is its positive effect on pain. Research now confirms this.

A study published in the journal Pain in December 2017 experimented to see if CBD could prevent osteoarthritis pain and joint neuropathy pain. Based on their findings, researchers agreed that it did both. The reason  is that it lessened joint pain and inflammation and served as a protectant to the nerves in the central nervous system.

Is CBD Safe?

According to some top health experts and agencies, the answer is yes. It is safe to use. The risks associated with CBD are extremely low, with not one case ever getting reported of a CBD overdose. The National Institute on Drug Abuse agrees and states that "CBD appears to be a safe drug with no addictive effects."

In the future, the FDA will likely begin to regulate and control CBD products, which will provide a safety net. And as the FDA indicates that as continued interest in this compound increases, the importance of establishing safe, controlled, and regulatory procedures are vital.

So if you have arthritis or other similar conditions, you should definitely try and experiment with CBD and CBD Products, both internally with edibles and tinctures and externally with creams, lotions, balms, salves, and oils. .

Children, Screentime and Sleep

helpful steps to take for better sleep

Cbd for arthritis and INFLAMMATORY conditions

Child in the dark watching a computer screen

Sleep is a vital part of our physical and mental development and our overall well-being. It is important for behavior, memory, emotions, learning and our health in general  And yet the total amount of sleep that children and adolescents are getting is continuing to decrease.

Why?

Although there is the potential for many reasons behind this trend, it is starting to emerge that screen time – by watching television, using computers, mobile phones and other electronic mobile devices it may be having a large and hugely negative impact on children’s sleep.

The use of these devices is incredibly widespread. A 2006 survey showed that nearly all adolescents have at least one electronic device in their bedroom. And that was 13 years ago. Today that number is 3-4 devices in bedrooms.   Given this, and the ever-increasing exposure to screen time especially in the hours before bedtime, it is perhaps not too surprising then that screen time is now associated with insufficient and ever-increasing poor quality sleep.

2014 review found consistent evidence that sleep was hampered by screen time, primarily in relation to shortened sleep duration and a delay in the timing of sleep. The latter finding was reported in 90% of the studies reviewed. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1087079214000811

But the relationship between sleep and screen time is more complex than that. In many ways, screen time could be negatively influencing sleep,

The timing of a child’s screen time is one important factor. The use of these devices can lead to later bedtimes and, consequently, shorter sleep overall.  Screen time in the evening can cut into the time that children would normally be getting ready for bed and sleeping, delaying the start of sleep. This causes the total amount of time a child sleeps down. There is less time available for it.

It has also been said that longer screen times can affect sleep by reducing the time spent doing other activities that require exercise which is beneficial for sleep and sleep regulation.

The content on the screen, as well as the light that these devices emit, may also be responsible for poorer sleep.  What we are actually engaging with on the screen, can be bad for sleep. For example, exciting and stimulating video games, dramatic or scary television shows, or even over-stimulating phone calls can excite the brain and lead to the release of hormones such as adrenaline. This can make it more difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep,

Something less obvious but still just as important is the impact that light has on sleep and on our sleep-wake patterns  (circadian rhythm) in general. Many of the devices that are now used regularly emit bright light. Exposure to these light emissions in the important evening hours before sleep can increase alertness and excitability. Bright light at night can also disrupt the body’s naturally occurring circadian (or daily) rhythms by holding back the release of the hormone melatonin, which is vital for maintaining and controlling our normal sleep-wake cycle.

It is becoming more and more clear that limiting screen time in the period right before bedtime is beneficial for sleep. Relating to this is to remove electronic devices from the bedroom provides a good sleep environment and will promote good regular sleep practices.

It is yet to be established how much is too much when it comes to screen time,  recent guidelines recommend that children under the age of 13 are limited to two hours per day, and children below five to less than one hour. And they should not be during the time leading up to bedtime.

With having a more balanced approach to screen time and the use of electronic devices, the clear benefits can be obtained from these devices while still maintaining and prioritizing sleep, health, and development.

Better and Helpful sleep blog and article

We all can have the occasional sleepless night, whether having trouble falling asleep or staying asleep. But insomnia, which is the inability to sleep or stay asleep, can harm proper normal daily functioning. Chronic lack of sleep has shown to be linked to many significant health problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and depression.

You may get tempted to use an over the counter sleep aid to help with your sleep, but you must be extremely careful. Many of the products are harmful, especially if taken long term. Some carry significant long term health risks like Benadryl, which has shown to have links to Alzheimer's and dementia. There are many completely safe and natural remedies for you to choose from that work just as good, and some people would say that they even work even better conventional treatments.

Using Melatonin

One of the most widely recommended and used natural sleep product is melatonin. Melatonin is a  hormone that occurs naturally and is produced by the body, and it regulates and controls the sleep-wake cycle inside the brain. Melatonin is manufactured by the body from serotonin when exposed to light sources that get decreased at night. It is primarily used for conditions when sleep problems get affected due to low levels of melatonin at night. Some conditions are aging, depression, and jet lag.  In older adults with insomnia, melatonin supplements may improve the quality and length of sleep and allow people to have better morning alertness without grogginess. Melatonin is usually taken 2 hours before bedtime, and the timing is essential. You want it to coincide with your regular bedtime.

Light Exposure Effects Sleep

Light exposure plays a vital role in telling the body when to go to sleep by increasing melatonin production. Light therapy is used as part of many sleep plans and may be helpful if you have trouble falling asleep at night or if you have a condition called delayed sleep phase syndrome. You may need more light in the morning, and this is why light therapy is so helpful and beneficial. Light treatment or a 30-minute walk first thing in the morning should help.

If you find that you wake too early in the morning or have a condition called advanced sleep phase syndrome, you may need more light in the late afternoon. Taking a walk in the afternoon or using light therapy for 2 to 3 hours is beneficial and should help you get the sleep you need. Home therapy lights are now very affordable, and you should be able to purchase one for your home. Your insurance may even pay for it.

Using Meditation and Relaxation Techniques

A great way to promote sleep is by slowing down your breathing and reducing your stress hormones. Both meditation and relaxation techniques will do just this for you. Focusing on an object or sound to increase awareness, relax the body, and calm the mind is the goal of meditation. There are several types of meditation, and some include guided meditation, yoga, and vipassana meditation. Each requires practice, and you must not give up if it does not seem to help right away.

Visualization is another technique to relax. This technique involves actively imagining a deeply relaxing scene, and you will need to include all of your senses. If you imagine that you are at the beach, you would think of the way the sea smells, the sound of the waves splashing, the breeze on your skin, the blue ocean. The more bright and vivid the imagination, the more it will be effective for you. It would help if you tried this in bed 20 minutes before you fall asleep.

Yoga

Yoga can be described as the joining of the body, mind, and spirit, and it is a system of relaxation, exercise, breathing, and healing. It has its origins in Indian philosophy. By relaxing the body and mind, you can prepare yourself to be ready for sleep and have a deeper and more restorative sleep.

Hypnosis

When your mind is in a state of hypnosis, you are more aware, focused, and open to suggestions. No one is quite sure exactly how it works, but hypnosis can bring about many physiological changes in the body, such as decreased blood pressure, heart rate, and alpha brain wave patterns. This state is very similar to meditation and other forms of intense relaxation. The effectiveness of cognitive-behavior therapy and relaxation techniques can get enhanced with hypnosis.

Eat Foods Rich In Magnesium

Magnesium is a natural sedative, and some research shows that supplements can help fight minor sleep issues and even insomnia. Foods that are rich in Magnesium are legumes and seeds, wheat bran, dark leafy green vegetables, almonds, blackstrap molasses, brewer's yeast, cashews, and whole grains. A deficiency in Magnesium can result in difficulty sleeping, constipation, muscle tremors or cramps, anxiety, irritability, and pain.

Acupuncture/Acupressure

Acupuncture and acupressure may help with minor sleep issues and even with insomnia. Studies have shown evidence that acupressure can help with sleep, but there is mixed evidence for the effectiveness of acupuncture.

Aromatherapy/Essential Oils

There are no studies strong enough to say that aromatherapy assists with sleep. But Lavender, for instance, has been used for years as a folk remedy to help people fall asleep. Try putting a drop of Lavender on your pillow or in your bath. Other aromatherapy oils that are believed to help with sleep are chamomile, patchouli, and yiang-yiang.

Food and Diet Can Effect Sleep

What you eat and what you don't eat can affect your natural ability to get to sleep and then stay asleep.

Limit Your Intake of  Alcohol, and Nicotine, Caffeine

Caffeine and nicotine have a substantial effect on sleep, causing insomnia and extreme restlessness. In addition to coffee, tea, and soda, you need to look for the many hidden sources of caffeine in foods such as chocolate, and in other products like cough and cold medicine, and other over-the-counter medication. Alcohol use can result in nighttime wakefulness and difficulty falling back to sleep.

Cut Back on Your Sugar Intake

Sugar can give you a burst of significant energy, but it lasts for a short time and then causes crashes in blood sugar levels. This crash in blood sugar levels can disrupt sleep in the middle of the night.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile is an herb that has traditionally gotten used to reduce anxiety, muscle tension, soothe digestion, and may help induce sleep. Historically, preparations made into tea have been used.

Valerian

Valerian is an herb that is brewed as a tea or taken as a supplement and is commonly used to reduce anxiety and improve sleep quality. Antdedoctal reports have shown that sleep gets enhanced with use.

Lemon Balm

Lemon Balm is a herbal supplement that has shown a propensity for relieving anxiety and calming the nerves. It can be taken in teas or as a supplement.

Other Natural Remedies

  • Gentle, slow, and flowing music is another remedy that can help to improve sleep. Music therapy has been found to enhance the quality of sleep, decrease nocturnal awakenings, lengthen your sleep time, and increase your satisfaction with the quality of your sleep.
  • Not getting enough regular exercise has been known to contribute to poor sleep. Muscle stress and tension can build up in the body and regularly needs to get released through exercise and activity. Exercise can promote a night of deep and restorative sleep. But intense workouts that are too close to bedtime can raise your adrenaline levels, which can lead to insomnia, so exercising at least a few hours before bedtime is best, but anytime during the day works well too.

Before starting any natural remedy, please consult with your doctor. Chronic unabating insomnia can be a symptom of other conditions that could potentially be serious.

Story writer

This is an essay/story

The birth of my fourth child inspired and grew my faith in so many ways. Sometimes all it takes is a little child to cause a significant change in one's life. Children are the greatest blessing from the Lord, and He gives us these little ones as He sees fit and according to His will and wishes. And all children's births are inspirational and unforgettable, but some are more so than others and can touch us deep into the recesses of our souls. I sincerely hope my son's story blesses you and makes your heart smile and shows you the hand of God in all of our lives.

His story is one that only God could have written.

In the Spring of 1997, I was quite busy with my three little children, who were all under the age of four.  John was a smart and curious 3-year-old. Daniel was my 2-year-old rambunctious, wild child, and Rebecca was my gentle and sweet one-year-old princess. They kept me pretty busy, as you could probably imagine.  There was always something to be done, to be washed, to be picked up. Also, I started homeschooling the two older boys, even while caring for an infant, and my days were full to overflowing. But I greeted each day with a glad heart and a song in my soul as I gazed each morning at their adoring and innocent faces.

Mornings were full of devotions, and bible verses and afternoons were filled with math and reading. They endlessly loved having books read to them, and they also loved stories I made up just for them. Funny stories, scary stories, and educational stories, they loved them all. The baby would join in, too, adding to the boisterous fun. I sat in awe and wondered if life could get any better. I was happy and content, even without having a lot of material things. We didn't have much, but we had plenty of love. And that was freely given and shared. My children brought me so much joy and contentment.

But I was to find out soon how our lives would change again.

In the Spring, I found out I was expecting my 4th child. He/she would be due in the middle of January. We were so excited. Even the little ones could sense the joy and excitement, and they were anxious to meet their newest sibling. But a relaxed and carefree pregnancy was something not to be had.  Right away, I started with severe morning sickness and exhaustion. The mere thought of any type of food turned my stomach and sent me reeling to the bathroom. Every morning was a struggle to get out of the bed to begin the day all over again. My room would spin and lurch like a roller coaster, and standing for more than 5 minutes produced severe lethargy and dizziness. Caring for the children became near impossible, and my heart broke that I could not be there for them.

Thankfully we were blessed with a wonderful church. They saw our needs and jumped right in to help us. They sent a young lady to help me when my husband was at work. I don't know where I would have been without her help. She cooked and cleaned and fed the children. She did baths and did the laundry. The list of what she did was endless. She did it at the pure goodness of her heart since we had no money to pay her.  The church did give her, for helping us out, a small stipend for necessities that she may need.  But what she did each day was worth far more than that small amount. I could not even put a price tag on it. She cared not only for my home and children, but she also cared for their little souls. She read bible stories and made some puppets. She sang them children's songs with her sweet and angelic voice. She rocked in the chair endlessly when the children were not feeling well. She kissed boo-boo's and wiped sticky hands. And all I could do was say thank you.

I was stuck on the couch, watching all of the action going on around me. I did feel left out sometimes, but I rested in peace, knowing my children were well taken care of, and I could at least watch the fun, and I could still hold and cuddle them.

I developed kidney stones during this time, and my pain was awful. There was little they could do while I was pregnant. I never knew if it was labor pains because the pain is so similar. Sharp stabbing pains across my stomach and back kept me curled up in a ball on the couch.

I developed repeated kidney infections, which put me in the hospital almost weekly. .This was before Skype, and I missed my family intensely. I would get visits when possible, and I cherished phone calls. Coming home always felt like a giant, glorious celebration. Being with my family always brought me peace and joy. Towards the end, I was able to get some I.V treatments at home, thanks to a visiting nurse. I may have been bedbound, but I was with my children. Even though they were so little, they knew something was wrong with mommy.  Their kindness and obedience so blessed me.

But that peace and joy did not stop my medical complications from getting worse. I was going downhill daily. My pain was unbearable, and the doctors had concerns with all the pain medication and antibiotics I needed. To top it all of I developed Gestational Diabetes, and my baby was getting big.

At one point, my kidney function tests started coming back abnormal. The tests were the things we feared the most. We knew they could change at a moment's notice. My illnesses and stones plus the pregnancy were putting too high of a strain on my body, especially my kidneys. It was only a matter of some time before kidney failure could set in. And then the unknowns, with the medication and stress that was to get passed on to the baby. Then the dreaded talks began in earnest. They started talking about early delivery when I was 30 weeks.  They did not move me. I tried to hold off as long as I could even though I knew the baby could definitely survive at this age and do well. I did not want to take any chances. I would rather suffer and be hurt myself than do anything to harm one of my children, no matter how small the probability may be.

Then another almost tragedy happened. I fell off the top step of our front stairs and landed square on my stomach. I laid in the cold and wet snow for what seemed like hours. I yelled and screamed. I feared what my children were doing alone in the house. Finally, a neighbor saw me on the ground and rushed over. I was rushed by ambulance, with red lights and sirens screaming, to the hospital, and the doctors feared the worse. I laid in the hospital bed in fear and shock as all the tests got ran. Again the Hand Of God was there for me. I had no complications from that almost devastating fall.

But at 36 weeks, the doctor decided to do an amniocentesis to check the lung development of the baby. They felt he needed to be delivered as soon as possible. The test came positive and said that his lungs were ready for birth. We all rejoiced! Soon my pregnancy would be over, and we would get to meet this little angel baby that we were waiting so excitedly about,

With all the health problems, it seemed like I was pregnant forever. Now the end was in sight, and we all breathed a huge sigh of relief. They felt delivery would be almost 100% safe for him at this point in the pregnancy.

Little did we know the doctor made a HUGE mistake.

At 36 weeks, I went into the hospital for an emergency c-section to deliver my baby boy. I remember the operating room, so sterile and cold. I had my spinal anesthesia and laid down, and the doctors started the surgery. Finally, they announce the baby was coming out. We were all so excited.

And then there was..........SILENCE.

We waited and waited to hear that first beautiful cry, and there was none. The doctor and nurse raced my baby upstairs, and then they finished my surgery.  They wheeled me to the recovery room, and I laid there frantic and shaking, not knowing what was going on with my baby boy.

My husband came in and explained that the baby was having trouble breathing and needed assistance. I finally was brought to my room. Because I just had major surgery, I could not get up to go to the nursery. So I sat in my room, waiting breathlessly for reports on my baby boy.

They decided he would be flown by helicopter to Albany Medical Center NICU. As it turned out, this was the right decision because his little lung collapsed on the way there. As soon as he arrived there, they put in a chest tube to inflate his lung, and then they put him on a ventilator to help him to breathe.

I was transferred the next day to Albany to be with him. As often as I could, I went up to the NICU to see my baby. Because of the type of ventilator he was on, he could not be picked up and held. I would gently stroke his arms and legs and head and softly talk and sing to him. And every 2 hours consistently around the clock, I pumped breast milk so I could at least give him the very best with that. I skipped pain meds for myself so that I could provide him with breastmilk. He was fed through a tube.

During this time, we found out the horrendous mistake the doctor made. I had an amniocentesis to check for his lung development. BUT, Because I had Gestational Diabetes, a second test was needed because the first test had high false positives that said a baby's lungs were ready in diabetic mothers when, in fact, they were not. So my poor baby had to suffer because of a horrible mistake. When I saw him after that, I just cried and cried and apologized to him. I felt partially responsible because it was my body that was suffering, my body that failed us, and it was why they decided to take him early.

I felt my body betrayed him. And I was not able to hold him and cuddle him through his suffering, and this tore up my heart and soul. I just wanted my sweet baby in my arms and at my breast and healthy.

They had to repeatedly medicate him because he fought the tube from the ventilator. He was a fighter! At one point, they even put his little hands into restraints. I just wanted to take his suffering and bear it myself for him. My mommy's heart almost could not take it. I continued to spend every minute I could with him, and I sang him songs about Jesus. I hope they were comforting to him.

Six days into his stay in the NICU, our church had the elders and men come in to pray over him. They laid hands on him, anointed him, and prayed. Then the impossible happened. Several hours later, the baby ripped out his breathing tube.  As they were getting ready to put it back in, they noticed his oxygen saturation was normal. So they waited a little bit. And yes, he was breathing well, so they left the tube out. They were astounded and had no answers. And then I finally was able to hold my baby and nurse him.

The next day he was in the step-down room, and we were preparing to get ready for home. I couldn't wait to see my other little ones, and I was anxious for my family to be together again. I  had my first night alone with him in the hospital, and he slept and nursed beautifully. My heart was singing just as my voice was singing praise songs and songs of thanksgiving. The following day we prepared for home.

The doctor came in with an astonished and incredulous look on his face. He had in his hand two x-rays. He showed the first x-ray and said it was from when the baby was first admitted. He had the lungs of a 29-week baby, not 36 weeks. Diabetes can do that to an unborn baby's lungs, and It will delay growth and development. Then they did the x-ray again seven days later, the day before discharge, and it showed completely healthy and normal full-term lungs. The doctor said in his entire career, and he had never seen anything like it before. Never in his extensive training and working as a doctor had he seen something like this ever happen. He agreed it was a miracle.

We bundled the baby up and put him in his car seat and took him home. I watched over this special bundle of joy carefully the whole hour ride home.

There is another fantastic and almost supernatural part of this story.

Many months before he was going to be born, we chose the name, Timothy Michael. I always liked it, and my husband did, as well. It was a good and solid biblical name. But two weeks before he was born, my husband came to me and asked about the name Josiah Gabriel. I knew it was a biblical name, and I liked it, and the name Gabriel has memory's for me of a lost baby. So I said ok.

He became Josiah Gabriel.

And get this...

Two weeks after we got Josiah home, we found out what the name Josiah means...

One of the meanings is "The Lord Heals."

If you can't see the very hand of God in all of this story, then I don't know. This story has our Heavenly Father written all over it!

Six Things I wish i could tell people about mental illness

Six Things I wish i could tell people about mental illness

Six Things I wish i could tell people about mental illness

Mental Health blog

Mental illness has always been difficult to understand and to wrap your mind around. Stigma abounds, and it only serves to hurt those with mental illness more when people make assumptions and create false narratives. Mental illness encompasses so many things and so many people, and there needs serious and comprehensive talk, as a nation, about what it is, what it entails, and what it means for the individuals and family's living under its shadow.  We need to put judgment aside and come to an understanding of how we will treat this complex and challenging issue.

Being someone who has multiple mental illnesses for over 35 years and who has lived through the stigma and miscommunication, I have thought about ways that can change how we view mental illness and the people who live daily with it. Here are five things I wish people knew and understood about mental illness.

We Are Not Our diseases

It is easy to slip into the thought pattern that people are Bipolar, people are Schizophrenic, people are anxious and to equate the illness with the person. A person is not Bipolar. They HAVE Bipolar, for example. People are so much more than the diseases that they have.

Mental illness may make life harder and more challenging. It may even interfere with daily living, but that is only a small part of what and who a person is. Research has also shown that harmful stereotypes about mental illness often prevent people from seeking treatment or speaking out at all about mental illness.

People have unlimited potential, and if they have the drive and stamina, they can do great things. There are hundreds of famous people who had a mental illness but did not let their illnesses hold them back to reach their full potential.

The famous actor and comedian, Jim Cary, has suffered from major depression most of his adult life. This news comes as a massive shock since he is known as a happy and hilarious person. His comedy always makes people smile and laugh. But he has had to work through his depression and battle it daily so he could succeed as an A-list comedian and actor. He did not let his depression hold him back in any way. He is known as a famous comedian and actor, not as a depressed person.

We Are Not Going To Hurt you

It is a common misconception that mentally ill people are violent and dangerous. This idea gets played out in the news, in books, and film. The stereotypical mentally ill person goes on a rampage and kills and tortures people and needs to be permanently locked up and the key to get thrown away. They get portrayed as being unpredictable and hurting people without warning.

This scenario is very untrue. While a small minority may have acted out and harmed people, the vast majority have not. There are people in prisons who have a mental illness, but they are a fraction of the population. It is people without mental illness that populate the jails in this country.

Those with mental illness tend to be kind and empathetic people because of the challenges that they go through. Hurting people is the last thing on their minds, and the fear of them is unwarranted. Many people have illnesses, and you would never even know it because they portray themselves as "normal" and average people. What people need to know is that this is what they are. Some would say they are above ordinary people considering all the famous and historical people who have lived through it and triumphed. They are your friends and neighbors, and they are your family and mentors. They would never harm you, nor would they even have the desire to do so.

Please do not be afraid of us.

Our Medication is Our Lifeline

Most people with mental illness take one or more medications to remain stable. Depression, bipolar, and schizophrenia is getting thought to occur due to chemical imbalances in the brain. Something in their minds is not quite right. Medication helps regulate those imbalances so a person can live a full and vibrant life.

Medication is not a crutch. Just as people with diabetes or high blood pressure must take medication to remain physically healthy, people with mental illness must take it too, to stay mentally healthy. You would not look down on a person who takes medication for a physical problem, and you should not look down on a person who takes it for a mental problem.

Sometimes We Need To Go Into The Hospital

The vast majority of mentally ill people are out in the community and functioning as valuable members of society. But there are occasions when someone must be in the hospital. Chemical imbalances sometimes occur, and medication needs to be adjusted so they can return to good mental health.

Being in the hospital does not make a person dangerous or threatening. Some may be suicidal or have lost a sense of reality. Just like a medical hospital helps people return to good physical health, a psychiatric hospital is there to help people return to good mental health. And hospitals are not like the stereotypical "One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest" that is portrayed by the media. It is a quiet and safe place to get better.

We Have Family and Friends Too

People with mental illness are not always lone individuals all on their own. Most have friends and family, just like a mentally stable person does. They even marry and have children. Sometimes it is a challenge to families when one person is mentally ill, and understanding and encouragement is needed.

With an illness, some may need extra support to be successful, and it has shown that having a family is vital to stability. Parents with mental illness have additional challenges, but it does not preclude them from having healthy, loving, and whole families.

We Can Have Jobs

Many people with mental illness hold down paying jobs. In fact, the majority of them do just that. They are your waiters, cashiers, gardeners, and many more people that you know. Some need extra support to be successful, but with that help, they can thrive at their jobs. Many sheltered workshops help even the most disabled person to do some kind of work.

There are some people with severe and debilitating mental illness who are not able to hold down jobs. Sometimes symptoms can interfere with working, and this causes conflict with a job. Some of these have hallucinations, anxiety, and confusion, which precludes working. Just as there are people with physical ailments that stop them from working, some mentally ill people have symptoms that interfere with them from being able to work. Many go to rehabs, day treatments, and social club programs instead.

People with mental illness are not their diseases. They are vibrant, happy, and successful people who happen to have an illness. It is no different than medical ailments and needs to get treated as such. We need to destroy the stigma of mental illness and bring to light the positive, rewarding, and amazing people who happen to have it without shame or recrimination.

Real miracles do happen

Miracle Short Stories blog

This story has our Heavenly Father written all over it!

Traveling Article

Traveling with toddlers is not easy; we all know that.  Boredom and a short attention span make for cranky driving or flying. And who wants a crying toddler, especially tightly packed in a car or flying on an airplane? The best toys are creative, entertaining, and especially not messy or noisy. Neither of those makes for a pleasant drive or flight. But rest assured, there are some great toys out there, and we will explore several of them here in this article.

1) CRAYOLA COLOR WONDER PAD AND MARKERS

These are amazing, and the best part of them is that THEY DO NOT MAKE A MESS!!  Children usually start getting into coloring when they are around two years old. Coloring can provide some great and quiet entertainment for the child. But the usual method, crayons or markers, get real messy fast. Whether it is getting on the hands and clothes or having your little one decorate the car door or the fold-down tray and window on a plane, this toy is not usually ideal to use for them to use.

But Crayola has come out with coloring materials that are entirely nonmessy and easy to use. Just toss them into a diaper bag or backpack, and they are ready to go. These pens only work on special coloring paper and not anywhere else. Keep your little one busy for hours with this great and entertaining product.

2) JANOD HAPPY FISH MAGNETO PUZZLE

Puzzles are not your first thought when it comes to a traveling toy due to the many pieces that can get dropped or lost. Constantly bending to keep them picked up is tiring, and there are many places. The Janod magnetic puzzle has several parts, but they are less likely to get lost in the car or the plane due to the magnets that hold the puzzle pieces into place. They are less like to get dropped, and they will keep your little one entertained, matching the pieces to the corresponding pictures. This is perfect for busy little hands and is sure to keep them entertained for long rides. Yes, they still can be dropped, but the magnet makes it a little easier to keep the puzzle pieces where they belong.

4) DR. SEUSS'S SECOND BEGINNER BOOK COLLECTION

Books are an essential travel toy. They keep children entertained for long periods, and they are 100% mess and noise-free. You may have to read them for the hundredth time and add your sound effects, but that is worth the peace and quiet they bring to young children. Who doesn't like Dr.Suess and his Green Eggs and Ham or his many educational titles? Read them over and over and encourage independent reading and play; they are sure to keep your child entertained for hours to come!

5) EYELIKE REUSABLE STICKERS

Children like stickers, that's a fact. But stickers put on doors and windows or pulldown trays leave a sticky and hard to remove mess. I am sure your car or the airline cleaning people will appreciate these reusable stickers that come off quickly and easily, leaving no mess behind. They can put them in the provided book or elsewhere where their little hands go, and you can sit back and relax, knowing there will be no mess to clean up. They also can be reused again and again, so there is less waste, and they have a toy that they can use many times. I think little hands will love the creativity and fun these stickers and books provide while keeping little minds and hands busy for hours!

6) PLAYSKOOL DRESSY KIDS DOLL

Children around the age of 2 have the fine motor skills to practice and perfect. Zipping, buttoning, tying will all keep little hands busy and little minds occupied for hours while honing their skills that they need to perfect. This is a favorite toy with dozens of activities to do all in one compact toy. This will fit easily into a backpack or diaper bag and will keep them busy for hours. They will keep coming back for more as they learn new skills. Available as a girl or a boy and soft, so getting bounced off the head while driving (or the people sitting in front of you on the plane) will be entirely painless!

7) KIDS DINOSAUR TRAVEL TRAY

This is a must-have for traveling in the car or by plane. This easily straps onto a pulldown tray or a car seat to create a tray and play space for all their toys and books.  It has sidewalls to prevent you from having to keep picking up things that fall to the floor, which I am sure your back will appreciate. I think this is ideal for toddlers to have, and it makes all the other toys you bring more accessible to the child and easy to keep track of all their many playthings. Parents rave about the convenience of this travel tray, and we can see why. What better way for your child to have his own space while keeping all the toys and books readily nearby!

So here are the toys and books that will keep your little ones entertained for hours on long car rides and plane trips. You can't go wrong with toys that are quiet and not messy and will keep children happy and peaceful with little hassle on your part. Anything that makes the car and plane ride a little easier is an A+ in my book!

CBD salves: an easy way to use cbd topically

CBD blog and article

CBD salve, lotion, and ointment are all names for topical CBD products used on the skin. There are many uses for CBD salve, things like pain, inflammation, and skin conditions like acne and psoriasis. CBD salves are used with great success by many people looking for a natural way to treat their conditions.

What is CBD salve?

A CBD salve is a semi-solid compound that gets used on the skin. It contains a certain amount of CBD oil in a base that has other ingredients in it, like coconut oil. When they get massaged onto the skin, the body absorbs the CBD oil.

How CBD salve is made

Most CBD salves are made with a variety of ingredients that work together to benefit the body. They contain a natural wax, a fatty oil base, and CBD oil.

Coconut oil is generally used as the compound that carries the CBD oil and allows it to get absorbed by the body. It is considered the preferred choice because it has a high fatty acid content that enables the body to more easily absorb the CBD oil.

To make a CBD salve, the Hemp flower gets ground into a very fine powder, almost like flour. It is then put into the oil and steeped for many hours at 200 degrees Farenhieight. This heating carbolizes the CBD and makes it into its active form. Then it is easily mixed with melted wax, and this creates the salve.

How CBD salve benefits the body and potential side effects

The skin is the largest organ in the body. It acts as a barrier to keep out harmful elements. CBD salve will cross the skin's membrane barrier for easy absorption into the body.

There are many benefits to using a CBD salve. The first is to explain what CBD is and how it works in the body. CBD is one of over 100 compounds found in the Cannabis Hemp plant. It is not psychoactive, unlike THC, and can not make you feel "high" or "stoned."

CBD works with the body's Endocannabidiol System and its receptors. The Endocannabidial System works with the entire body to produce homeostasis or the normal functioning of the body and its many systems.

The Endocannabidiol System has two receptors, the C1, and the C2, and they are found throughout the body. This is the reason why CBD has so many positive and therapeutic effects all through the body. The total functioning of these receptors and the Endocannabdiol System is not entirely known yet, and research, including studies and clinical trials, is ongoing.

Because the Endocannabidiol System and CBD function on so many systems in the body, one of the symptoms it helps with is pain. CBD fights inflammation, which is the source of most causes of pain within the body; pain is reduced or even eliminated. CBD can replace pharmaceutical drugs in many cases, or it can decrease the amount of medication that is needed to control pain.

CBD salves are known to help with acne and other inflammatory skin conditions. Because CBD reduces inflammation in the body, it can target skin conditions that occur due to inflammation. Most skin conditions, especially acne, occur due to inflammation under the skin.

CBD salves can soothe irritation on the skin by delivering CBD to targetted places on the surface of the skin. It can also relieve sore and aching muscles with CBD hitting the receptors closest to the discomfort

Topical CBD like salves is meant to get used by massaging it onto the affected area. You may feel nothing at first, or you may experience a feeling of warming, cooling, or a tingling feeling. Some factors that affect this are the additional ingredients that get added to the CBD salve product.

If you are using the salve for pain, then it usually works very quickly. For other skin conditions, you may have to apply it multiple times to see any results. It would be best if you always read the package to see the directions, and they usually include recommendations for the use of the salve.

The effectiveness will vary significantly with different salves because of several various reasons. One is quality. Many manufacturers deliver inferior products. Some may vary widely with the amount of CBD in the bottle compared to what gets listed on the bottle. Or they may use inferior ingredients that do not deliver quality CBD products.

A straightforward way to learn about the quality of a CBD product is to buy only products that have third-party testing on each batch of CBD. This way, you know exactly what you are getting when you buy your CBD salve. You can rest assured that you are getting what you are paying for in a good quality CBD salve.

Right now, there are no known potential side effects of using CBD salves. Through patient reports and clinical trials and studies, there have been no reports of any possible side effects other then mild skin irritation if you are allergic to one of the ingredients in the salve.

How salves differ from other CBD products

When you compare CBD salves to other CBD products, the main difference is that some products you administer by putting it under your tongue or by eating it.  With salves, you rub it directly onto your desired area of the body.

Some people who use salves claim they work much faster than CBD oils. This idea makes some sense since the CBD does not have to go through your entire digestive system before entering the bloodstream, and you feel the effects almost immediately. You are applying salves directly onto the source. CBD oil, on the other hand, may take an hour or more to kick in.

Conclusion

CBD salves work well for many people, but they do not work on everyone. Everyone's body is different, and it reacts in different ways. Do your research and try different products to find a salve that works best for you. And finally, look for salves that are high quality and well made and avoid inferior, cheap quality products.

Writing from the heart

7 of the best toys to entertain children while traveling

CBD salves: an easy way to use cbd topically

How to write better content

Writing comes from the heart, and if your heart is not entirely into it, you will not succeed. People can read and tell when the heart is not into it, and it becomes a drudgery to write and a drudgery to read. No one wants dull and dried reading material that caters to no one and serves no real purpose.

Writing from the heart uses all the senses, including emotions, to give the reader a feeling of being involved in what they are reading. They want to feel like they are in the middle of the story, and they wait breathlessly for each new chapter to get revealed. They want something that will stir their emotions and make the words come alive and be real.

When the heart is not into it, then the writing becomes dull and boring, and it does not stir the reader to action. Diving deeply into a piece with a ton of information becomes a chore when the writer is just stating facts. Facts are boring without a story behind them.

Weaving a story into the facts makes it rich and rewarding and makes the reader want more. It keeps them reading the whole piece and keeps them coming back for more of what is getting written. If it is dry and dull, then they will stop reading and move onto something else.

People have very short attention spans.  They will scan and read for a few seconds, and if the writing is not bold and exciting in the very beginning, it will not hold onto the reader for the rest of the piece.

Bold words and descriptive descriptions will keep them reading on and then wanting more and more. Even the most technical writing needs new information written in a way that engages the reader and holds their interest.

The plot or central aspect of the piece needs to be complex and profound. It needs to pull the reader deep into the writing.  The writing needs to have information presented to them in a way they understand and can relate to in their lives. Even technical writing needs to have understandable words and rich descriptive words that tell a story of what is happening.

The plot must have an element of surprise, which causes readers to want to continue to get to that surprise or mystery. Don't tell the whole story in the beginning, lead them up to it with a building sense of urgency. People will want to find out what that mystery is by reading further. The plot needs to have a cause that makes the readers want to believe in it.

The main body needs to reflect on the plot with an understanding of how it relates. The body of the article needs to add descriptive and meaningful information that makes the readers wanting more. It should also make the readers question as to how the piece affects them and what they can get out of it by reading it.

The piece should have a sense of purpose, a story that has significant meaning and style. Readers should be able to relate to the article through relatable information. They need to know why they can connect to the information and how it can benefit them. Most people do not like to read pieces that have nothing to do with them, their dreams, and aspirations.

Writing should have an element of teaching in it. People would like to come away from a paper that has taught them some principal, some deep secret, some hidden piece of information that they did not know before.

People need to have an "aha" kind of feeling and moment and have a strong reaction to what they are reading. They need to say, " Wow! I did not know that, and now I do! "  They want to have a feeling of accomplishment and of doing something new and exciting.

They do not want information that is given to them that is condescending, and that makes them feel small and unaccomplished. Do not talk "down" to the readers but speak with them. Tell them that by knowing this, they can improve in some way in their lives, and it is o.k not to have pre-knowledge of the content. They need to know that it is perfectly normal not to know some particular information, and learning about it will enhance their lives somehow.

The more information given is usually better, but be careful not to inundate them with massive amounts of data. Break it down into easily digestible pieces that will explain without confusing them. Write in a way that is understandable and easily read by a vast amount of people. Your audience should feel that they understood what you wrote and then use it to apply to some aspect of their lives.

Pick a topic that you can write from your heart with, something that resonates with you and also resonates with the readers calling them to action. Something that stirs them up inside and makes them unsatisfied with the status quo. Your words should encourage people to look into the information even further,  It should spark an excitement of wanting to learn more, and they should eagerly anticipate your nex article.

When writing, you should use easily understandable words and phrases. Not everyone understands the jargon of particular industries. Yes, there are some cases this is not practicable, like, for instance, writing technical pieces that need specific words and phrases that not all will understand. But even then, keep it as simple as it is possible and still get the message you are writing across to those who are reading it.

The conclusion should clearly rehash the main points of the article and explain again why the reader needs your call to action. If they have a clear purpose, this can convert to regular readers whose whole purpose is to engage with what you have written about and follow your call to action.

Writing from the heart is vital to a great article. It engages the reader and draws them into the story or piece you are writing about. Just by putting your whole heart, mind, and soul into your writing will make others want to read what you have written and will keep them coming back for more of your writing for years to come.

MY DREAMS REALIZED

The Travel Industry Is Taking The Lead In stopping Sex Trafficking

The Travel Industry Is Taking The Lead In stopping Sex Trafficking

Personal essay and Article writer

This is a personal essay.

It happened during an epic snowstorm with roads so treacherous that the county closed them except for emergencies. We raced to the hospital, clearly in an emergency of our own, oblivious to the snow falling steadily down on us. My husband had one thought on his mind, to get me to the hospitals before our son would make his grand entrance into our lives. And this grand entrance that we eagerly anticipated would not come easy. Visions of a serene and peaceful delivery got systematically crushed.

Arriving at the hospital amidst a flurry of rush and commotion, we were taken to the maternity floor. Strapped to the monitor, we heard our son's beautiful and even majestic heartbeat. Every beat of his heart resonated with my own, a desire to meet this little soul we created.

I had a longing to create my own little family devoid of the emptiness and sorrow that I experienced as a child. Thinking back to the days of my childhood, I remembered how I was a lonesome and fearful child. I wanted a father so much. It was not that I did not have an actual father. He was ever-present in the home, but he moved through it with ghostly silence. Tragically, to this day, I do not remember a hug or a kiss or an encouraging word from this stoic, cold, and emotionally devoid man.

Of course, a little girl always wants a father in her life, even amidst the daily coldness and lack of any emotional response. I spent my whole childhood seeking something I would never receive. His childhood was fraught with pain, a brutal and heartless mother, and a distant and cold father. Alcohol dominated his family life just as it did mine.

As I got older, I tried to understand the man himself, who had gotten raised in the same manner he was raising me. I understood, but my heart was filled with emptiness and devoid of any real happiness. I wanted what I never had. My constant thoughts were on babies. Daydreams and hopeful thoughts dominated my mind, and I spent my days fantasizing about the unconditional love a baby would bring me. I spent endless amounts of time looking for a way to fulfill my dreams.

When I met the man who I was to marry, I dived headfirst into a world of unknowns. I only knew my husband for a month when the day came of exploding joy. It happened! The stick turned blue, and my path to motherhood was finally getting realized. I walked with my head held high, proud of my achievement, my round belly like a trophy. The movements inside me reminded me that I was no longer alone. I was needed, I was wanted, and I was loved!

With a skip to my step, I walked through the stores buying for my little one, and it was exhilarating. No drug or alcohol could ever achieve the euphoria that I felt. As the days grew closer, I was also filled with nervousness. Can I be the mother I want to be? Terrified, my childhood would come crashing down on me, and my child or I would relive the emptiness I had felt.

I pushed onward, and I was determined that I would break the family curse and build my family on unconditional love and acceptance. Laying in the hospital bed in the throes of agonizing labor pains, I was embracing the pain that would bring me the desires of my heart. I labored three days before they finally did a c-section. Laying on the operating table trembling from the cold and anticipation, I waited for my son to make his grand entrance into the world and into my arms.

Then I heard it. The most beautiful sound in the world, my son's glorious cry! They held him up all red and screaming, tears ran down my face — tears of unbridled joy. I shook with anticipation to hold this precious 9-pound new life. When they handed him to me, I cried tears of joy. I thanked God for what He gave me.  I whispered in my son's ear promises that he would have a good life and that he was wanted and loved.

I had achieved my sincerest and heartfelt dreams. It was beyond my wildest imagination, and I knew nothing would ever compare. Finally, I had what I wanted. I was needed, and I was unconditionally loved!

The Travel Industry Is Taking The Lead In stopping Sex Trafficking

The Travel Industry Is Taking The Lead In stopping Sex Trafficking

girl being abused and sex Trafficking Article

January is Human Trafficking Awareness Month. This month is a vital time to spread awareness and renew our dedication to ending all forms of slavery in Canada and Internationally. Acknowledging that there is a huge problem is the first step. Amazingly, there are still many people who are not aware of this large and growing problem.

Human Trafficking is the recruitment, transportation, transferring, harboring, or receipt of persons by using force, threats, coercion, fraud, or deception. Human Trafficking is the abuse of a person's power over another vulnerable person. They may give payment or benefits to achieve the consent of the vulnerable person.

There are different types of Human Trafficking.

Domestic Servitude is a person working in a private home, and they are forced or coerced into serving, or they are fraudulently convinced that they can not leave. This applies to children as well as adults. Sometimes children are chosen for this so they can get trained to suit their handlers.

Forced Labor is getting forced to work under the threat of violence and for no pay. They are treated as property

Child Labor is the enslavement of a child, be it physical, domestic, bonded, or sexual.

Sex Trafficking is when women or children or, on occasion, men are held against their will and forced into the commercial sex industry and forced to perform sexual acts. They are held there by force, fraud, or coercion.

Bonded Labor is when individuals are compelled to work to pay off a debt. They can not leave until the debt gets repaid. This is the most common form of enslavement.

Forced Marriage is where women and young girls are forced to marry another person without their permission and against their will, Girls are usually forced to marry much older men then they are.

Human trafficking differs from human smuggling as the latter people give their consent and usually pay large sums of money to get smuggled. And then they are free upon arrival at the destination

There is the myth that the majority of people involved in human trafficking are international, but the actual reality is that it is happening in our own back yards.

Human Traffic In Canada For The Purpose of Sexual Exploitation

The 2016 Global Slavery Index estimates that 17,000 people are living in conditions of modern-day slavery in Canada. This is a prevalence of 0.5 victims for every thousand people living in the country. The extent of human trafficking both in Canada and Internationally, is challenging to assess due to the hidden nature of the crime. There is also the reluctance of the victims and witnesses to come forward to law enforcement. There is great difficulty identifying the victim. Both men and women can fall victim to this crime, but women are predominantly are the victims.

Trafficking in Canda for the purpose of sexual exploitation, which involves Canadian citizens, are the most common form of modern slavery in Canada that is detected by authorities. 93% of identified sex trafficked victims are Canadians citizens, not foreign citizens. The majority are reported in the Greater Toronto Area.

In 2015, Peel Regional Police, which services the Greater Toronto Area, brought 244 charges related to sex trafficking and, in the first half of 2016 alone, brought 149 charges. These, of course, do not tell the story of all the unreported cases that are out there. Most victims do not come forward because of threats, dependence on the relationship, or fears of deportation.

There was even a case where a 16-year-old boy who was charged with sex trafficking when he lured a girl with gifts, then held her against her will, and then he forced her into the sex trade. There were 219 cases reported of forced marriage cases between 2010 and 2012. 82% of those are female, 6% were male, and 1% were transgender, with 1% unknown. 35% were under the age of 18.

The travel industry has been an unwitting partner in the human trafficking industry for years. July 30, 2019, the United Nations designated the day for World Day Against Trafficking. Southwest Airlines launched a mandatory human trafficking awareness curriculum for all its 59,000 employees. ECPAT-USA, a Brooklyn based non-profit, is raising awareness of the human trafficking of children by taking its fight directly to the travel industry doors to launch a new campaign, 20by20. This is a year-long effort that aims to train 20,000 event industry professionals to spot trafficking by taking its 25-minute online course.

Airlines have donated millions of dollars to help fund the National Human Trafficking Hotline. The Blue lightening Initiative was started to raise awareness of trafficking.

Things To Look For In A Trafficking Victim

  • The victim is not in control of their passport or other      forms of I.D. The trafficker is the only one handling the documents
  • The Victim has little to no possessions.
  • They are physically controlled and escorted at all      times by the trafficker
  • The trafficker speaks for them, and the victim's speech      sounds scripted or rehearsed
  • The hotel gets paid for in cash
  • The victim is inappropriately dressed.
  • The hotel room has people coming and going at regular      intervals throughout the day, evening and night
  • There is a loud noise, violence, or fighting. You may      hear crying or screaming.
  • When the victim is on transportation like planes or      buses, they are not allowed to go to the bathroom by themselves.
  • They may lie about their age and produce fake I.D.

Here are resources for more information. These sites provide valuable information to learn more about human trafficking and will give you more steps to take to get involved. CPAP Buying Guide: Choosing the right cpap mask

sleeping and Eye mask buying tips

Easy To Understand Guide to Buying a CPAP Machine

CPAP stands for continuous positive airway pressure, and it is a machine used for people with sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder where are your breathing stops and starts over and over again throughout the night. This is when the throat muscles relax and shut off the airway and block breathing. This disorder is also called obstructive sleep apnea.

Signs and symptoms of sleep apnea are:

- loud snoring

- episodes where you stop breathing

- gasping for air during sleep

- awakening with a dry mouth-

- morning headache

- excessive daytime sleepiness

- difficulty paying attention when awake

- irritability

There are several types of machines and a variety of masks to choose from, and you will be sure to find one that works best for you.

Some types of masks are:

Nasal CPAP Mask

This mask hovers over a person's nose from the bridge to their upper lip area.

This CPAP mask is recommended for:

- patients who move around a lot when they sleep

- they need a higher pressure setting

- they want a good selection of mask options to choose from

They are not the right choice if a person is a mouth breather unless they use a chin strap. They are also not the right choice if they have a history of allergies that blocked their sinuses.

Here are some tips for using a CPAP machine.

Way to lower CPC cpst

Easy Ways To Lower Your CPC  Cost

CPC is an acronym for cost-per-click. Cost-per-click bidding is the most common bidding method. There are many bidding platforms, and they employ this method as their go-to form of charging for services. How it works is incredibly easy, you pay when someone clicks on your ad

Many people want to reduce their advertising costs, and lowering their CPC is one of the ways to do just that. One must understand how CPC gets calculated. Google divides your competitors rank by your quality score, then add one cent. Auctions are fair and profitable because Google usually runs a discount. You may not always pay what your maximum score is.

There are ways you can lower your CPC advertising cost.

It would be best if you were more relevant

You will need to restructure your account to best do this is through SKAG or single word keywords Ad groups. If you have not begun yet to use these, then you must change things so that you only use one keyword per ad group. These keywords will improve almost every essential metric. This is because they reduce discrepancies between what Google searchers are looking for and the ads that get shown to them. It will also help you find the highest-performing long-tailed keyword searches. Doing so will set up for accurate bids.

Get rid of problem keywords

There are really good keywords that perform fantastically, but they cost more than you are prepared to pay for. One really good way to do this is by using negative keywords that will reduce the number of unwanted clicks that drastically raise your CPC. This is vital to lower your CPC in Google ads.

Work towards improving your quality score

One of the very best things to do is use the SKAGS that were already mentioned. It would help if you cleaned up your keywords before you start moving forward, and this is vital to lowering your CPC for your ads. SKAGS will take care of 90% of your quality score if you take care of them.

Make a better landing page and experience

Your quality score on Google ads is partly based on what your landing page experience is. Build an excellent landing page, and it will drastically boost your quality score. Your landing page needs to be well designed and also optimized for conversion. This is one of the most important things you can do to lower your CPC rate.

Click-through rate

You need to create new ads to compete against your winning ads and you need to do this frequently. Please don't settle for a lower rate, try to improve it. There are always new and better words to use, better and stronger calls to action, and many more benefits you can give visitors.

You may need to lower your bids

Even though you're quality score may be going up, GOOGLE may decide to make you still pay the same CPC as before. After you complete the above steps, you can begin lowering your CPC bids. You don't want your average position to suffer that you need to keep an eye out on it.

It would be best if you use long-tail keywords

If you use long-tail keywords, you should know that they are lower competition keywords. Fewer people search for them, but fewer people are trying to rank for them too. And you will have a much better chance to rank for these keywords. Long-tailed keywords cut out people clicking on the ad but not converting to a customer. You will get more people who are specifically looking for your product, and that is because they have high relevance to your website or business.

Test multiple landing pages

Pay very close attention to landing page copy to landing page experience. Include keywords from the ad group in the landing page copy to beef up the relevance of the page. Google expects a fantastic landing page experience.

These tips are just lightly covered; you can continue your research to find the best ways that you can reduce your CPC rate. It's possible to do this with time, effort, and resourcefulness. In time your CPC should go down, and you can get to the CPC rate that you are satisfied with. Always strive to do better. Your results will be what rewards your time, resources and efforts

Receiving Help At A Rehab for Long Term Healing

Addictions, eating disorders, and other emotional difficulties are hard things to live with, and many people want to change their lives by getting help. Many seek help outpatient treatment, but if the problem is severe and life encompassing, they may go and seek help in a treatment facility.

Rehabs are specially designed to give individual treatment and to focus on the person's inner struggles. They make a person face their fears, hopes, dreams, and the challenges that they have in their lives. They have many different programs to help a person face their most challenging problems. Some people choose to go to expensive rehab facilities that have a broad range of services and treatment modalities. Some of the best rehabs are in Switzerland.

In these rehabs, they have new and novel treatments not available elsewhere. They have very individual programs focusing exclusively on the person receiving treatment.

Some of their treatments are new and exciting. One of those is biochemical restoration. Functional medicine is described as the practice of preventing and treating disease by providing the brain and body with optimal amounts of substances which are natural to the body like amino acids, vitamins, minerals, trace elements, macronutrients, and other healthy materials. For our bodies and brains to function optimally, we require optimal amounts of such substances.

With our modern lifestyle, from eating habits to stress to our lack of physical activity, but most of all, through addictive behavior and substance abuse, we can be lacking in what our bodies need. Lab tests can determine these, and they can be restored. Addiction and other similar struggles are complex brain disorders. Substance abuse can lead to lasting changes in brain biochemistry, it's structure and its function. A modern lifestyle that is characterized by stress and unhealthy eating habits can add further biochemical deficits in our brain and body.

These deficits can lead to lifelong problems and struggles and leave us trying to find ways to make ourselves feel better. These imbalances can lead to cravings, anxiety, stress, depression, sleep problems, and difficult chances for a long-lasting recovery. Restoring the brain and healing the mind's biochemistry is a top priority. Lab tests can uncover issues like imbalances of amino acids, nutritional deficiencies, hypoglycemia, inflammation, adrenal fatigue, gut health, hormonal levels, and more. Based on the tests, a tailor-made system of dietary plans can be put together to help the person. If you add physical activity and relaxation, the brain's biochemistry can get restored, and symptoms can be alleviated or even eliminated.

A healthy brain and body can significantly enable long term sobriety and improve cognitive skills and physical activity, emotional stability and well being can allow a person to benefit more from their recovery program. There will be less stress, and the person will be more relaxed and can concentrate during therapeutic sessions.

Treatments aim at detoxifying the whole body and repairing the damage done to the brain and body at the cellular level. This treatment can also prevent future illnesses and diseases. This is biochemical restoration in a nutshell, and it can genuinely help a person in their recovery process.

Other treatments that are important complement each other and comprise a comprehensive treatment plan. Counseling is one on one and gives a person a chance to work through traumas and struggles. Psychoeducation to become more self-aware and introspective. Psychotherapy to dive deeper into emotional issues . Nutritional counseling to learn good, healthy eating habits. Eating a healthy and whole foods diet to heal and maintain the body. Fitness training to learn new skills to exercise the body for good health. Acupuncture and reflexology to tap into the body's systems to help regulate it. Massages to relax body and mind. Yoga to center and focus the mind. Twelve-step programs to give you guidance, self-introspection, and accountability. Spiritual guidance to heal spiritually.

These all work together to form a comprehensive treatment plan to heal the body, mind, and soul. A person needs to put the work in as all the help in the world, no matter how expensive it is, will not help unless a person fully participates and puts their all into the treatment.
